To hike a via ferrata, it is essential to have the specific equipment for this activity, know how to use it correctly, and be familiar with climbing progression techniques.
On a via ferrata, shocks from a fall are extremely violent. No equipment can withstand these shocks. This is why the use of an energy absorber is mandatory.
Recommended Minimum Equipment
- An alpinism helmet
- A harness
- A complete Y-shaped via ferrata set with a fall energy dissipator and two connectors (via ferrata) type K
- A pair of via ferrata gloves
- Via ferrata boots
